About the blog

I’ve been passionate about the application of positive psychology since I started studying it seriously over 5 years ago. Research appeals to my inner geek, but the practitioner in me always wins out – “so what?” and “but how?” being my incessant questions. Also, positive psychology is all about taking action and this blog is my attempt to make the science of positive psychology applicable and accessible to all beyond the courses I run.

This year I’m going to take a closer look at the strengths that sit at the heart of positive psychology. There are 24 core strengths within the VIA (Values in Action) profile, each one with a sound evidential base and reason for inclusion. I like the VIA strengths very much and as many of you know, publish a set of strengths cards which now have a reach across the globe.

This year I’ll be publishing a second set of strengths cards, showing people how to increase each strength and put the strength into action. In line with this, each month I’ll take one of the strengths as the theme for the month and explore how to make the strength come alive. I look forward to your thoughts and feedback.

So, enjoy and share. Happy 2012!
